Dear Editor:
The Ancient Greeks recognized that the responsibility of the citizen
is to be active in the political affairs of the polis. While
Americans have the freedom to engage or disengage in politics, one
would hope that those seeking political office would engage in the
most sacred and greatest political responsibility; that of voting.
In Lincoln, only one of our candidates for First Ward Alderman has
constantly shown the dedication to meet his civic obligation to
vote. That candidate is Steve Parrott. According to the data I have,
Mr. Parrott’s voting record is sterling. On the other hand his
opponent’s leaves something to be desired. Mr. Parrott’s opponent
has failed to cast a ballot between 20-21 and 2024. This means that
he failed to vote for President Trump and for Governor in the last
elections. Furthermore, if you want to be called a Republican, you
should vote in Republican Primaries. Again, chalk up a big fail for
Mr. Parrott’s opponent.

Mr. Parrott is a good Alderman and a good man who
takes his responsibilities seriously. His dedication to his Ward and
his City is unmatched. His attention to his basic civic
responsibility of voting is noteworthy. I fully support Alderman
Parrott and ask that you do the same.
