 Happy 250th Birthday America!

I was inspired to write this letter on what 250th birthday of America means to me by the story of Benjamin Franklin, who sent letters to the editor of his local news paper at a young age as well. He wrote under a pen name Silence Dogood. Today, I can write to my newspaper freely, as a young girl, under my own name. Freedom is something that all of us here in America get to enjoy but not all people in the world have the same privilege.

America was founded by people that came here from all over the world in search of freedom, better opportunities and better laws. Those people were probably scared but also brave, adventurous and in early days went to battle for their freedom.

[to top of second column in this letter]

I am a first generation American on my mom’s side of my family. I am proud of my cultural heritage and I hope to live up to the courage and wisdom of our founding fathers.

Happy 250th Birthday America!
