At the Tuesday night Committee of the Whole meeting of the Lincoln City Council, aldermen discussed the future of Lincoln Heritage Museum on the Lincoln College campus when the campus is sold to Chase Huston. Representing the Lincoln College Board of Trustees, Patrick Doolin shared that Huston is in favor of keeping the museum where it is. The board of trustees are proposing that the City of Lincoln Department of Tourism take over the museum. Huston would lease the space to the city. The college trustees wish to gift the contents of the museum plus $250,000 cash to the city. Current Museum Director Ron Keller would become an employee of City Tourism and retain his role at the museum.

The council also heard another option that would include moving contents of the museum to the new museum being established in the downtown area. There, the contents of the main floor of the current museum would be set up in displays in the basement of the new Route 66 Museum, and again Keller would be retained as the local Abraham Lincoln expert.
