On Tuesday afternoon the creek was definitely “out” at Kickapoo Creek park on the north side of Lincoln. The park was closed to motorists, but a few brave souls found ways to get a little closer to the flow in spite of the lack of a vehicle.

The videos taken by Karen Castelein show just how fast the water was moving in the creek. And that makes this a good time to remind folks that even though water is high in local creeks and rivers, the water is also moving quite fast, making it a less than ideal time to be out in a canoe or kayak.

On Saturday, the annual Living Alternatives Pregnancy Resource Center Walk for Life was hosted on the campus of Open Arms Church at the Laughlin Center. This year, the event raised more than $10,000 for the program, which was a record amount in the history of the event.

Little Women, the Musical opens Thursday evening at Lincoln Community High School. The play is being presented by the school Theater Department under the direction of Kim Peterson Quinn. The civil war era play is a musical adaptation of the novel by Louisa Mae Alcott and features the four March sisters.
